Construction of B&G Marine Sports Centers started in 1976. They were built in 480 locations all across Japan, which had been selected through a stringent screening process from among a total of 2,200 municipalities that had applied for the B&G Plan. The construction of the B&G Marine Sports Centers was funded by motorboat races, which totaled up to 140 billion yen. As it had been decided that B&G Marine Sports Centers would be handed over from the B&G Foundation to respective municipalities without compensation 3 years after completion of construction, all B&G Marine Sports Centers (480 locations) had been transferred into municipality control by October 2004.

The B&G Marine Club is an organized club aimed at training and increasing the mental and physical fitness of young people. Once members are gathered and activity space and other requirements are satisfied, the group can register with the B&G Foundation as a Marine Club. Registered Marine Clubs are provided at no cost with materials for yachts and canoes, as well as safety equipment such as life jackets.
